Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce has been open about his potential retirement in the NFL in the near future.
At 35 years old and through 12 seasons in the league, the veteran tight end understands very well that he doesn’t have much time left in the league.
Despite that, however, his girlfriend Taylor Swift remains fully supportive of his career and wants him to keep playing as long as he wants. The Chiefs TE made that abundantly clear in a Wednesday interview on “The Stephen A. Smith Show,” where he was asked if the pop star is encouraging him to retire or keep playing.
Stephen A. Smith pointed out how violent a sport football can be, so it’s only natural for a player’s romantic partner to think about his playing days.
“She’s fully encouraging me to enjoy playing this game,” Kelce said of Swift. “She loves coming to Arrowhead and coming to the games and cheering for me, so I got all the support in the world to keep chasing these dreams.”

In the same interview, Travis Kelce revealed the real reason he’s considering retirement, admitting that he’s “not having that extreme success on the field” that he has enjoyed in the past. With that said, he couldn’t help but think about his future in the NFL.
The Chiefs star did say that his retirement thoughts change “every single day,” but in the end, all he’s considering is whether he’s still helping the team more than he’s hurting them.
It remains to be seen how many years Kelce actually has playing in the NFL, but if you ask Taylor Swift, it’s clear she wants her boyfriend to keep doing his thing as long as he’s having fun and enjoying the game.
